Prix Meurice for Contemporary Art 2011/2012

Emilie Pitoiset
Born 1980, lives in Paris and Berlin.
Emilie Pitoiset's work is informed by geometry, line, movement and the body. Her sculptures, videos and collages demonstrate a particular concern with fragile equilibriums, disfiguration, and unnatural postures and movements.
Project :
Emilie Pitoiset goes further in her reflections on the body, geometry and line, with an installation inspired by Oskar Schlemmer's Pole Dance. She envisages Klemm's gallery space as a stage where steel sculptures evolve in geometric dances. Unlike Schlemmer's flowing, living matter, Emilie Pitoiset has chosen steel to produce a heavy, staccato piece in which geometric movement is magnified.
Exhibitions :
Solo show at Klemm's, Berlin, Germany.
