Eric Baudart
Galerie Chez Valentin
Born 1972. Lives in Paris.
‘I develop an instinctive practice, taking objects from my surroundings to draw out forms which are representative or constitutive of a kind of elementary cement that bonds the world.’ Eric Baudart's work revolves around matter, texture, reflection, illusion, reinvention. We move from nature to artifice, from one reality to another that is more deceptive, less real. Disquieting images blur our points of reference. A photographer, Eric Baudart has extended his artistic practice to sculpture and installation. He blazes a poetic trail by modifying the physical laws of ordinary objects. The Big Rip theory of the expansion of the universe inspires him.
Project
Atmosphères is based on the transfer of properties (in the sense of physical properties). Five objects are immersed in aquariums, filled with oil. This change of medium and the surfactant forces it produces create an observation chamber for a hypothetical scientific experiment. The project will be shown at FIAC and Art Basel.
