Prix Meurice for Contemporary Art 2011/2012

Louidgi Beltrame
Born 1971, lives in Paris.
Louidgi Beltrame's work documents modernist architecture and its remains, at the same time deconstructing the formal and narrative structure of film as a medium with its own specific syntax. Taking architecture as a narrative, his work - composed of videos which are as much documentary as fiction, and architect's drawings - constructs a system of analogies between the languages of architecture and film.
Project :
L'Observatoire is an archaeological study in the wake of two major works by the American artist Robert Morris (b. 1931 in Cleveland). Beltrame's project is a mono-channel video installation that will connect Morris's two works, both part of his Anti-Form aesthetic and his rejection of the white cube gallery space in the 1970s.
