"Creation has always been at the heart of 'art de vivre' at Le Meurice. Its name will always be synonymous with artistic innovation. Today, in keeping with its history and with a view towards the future, Le Meurice has created an award for contemporary art called the 'Prix Meurice pour l'art contemporain' to allow an up-and-coming French artist to progress their career on an evercompetitive international stage. The competition is open to artists working in France and under the age of 50. The prize of €20,000 will be awarded to one winner; €10,000 for artistic creation and €10,000 to go towards the international distribution of their work. The award embraces all types of artistic expressions; from painting and sculpture to photography and video. Le Meurice's recent redesign by Philippe Starck and his daughter, Ara, reflects the hotel's surrealist past, helping to embrace its progress towards the future, and so ‘Meurice Prize for Contemporary art' perfectly complements this development."
