Prix Meurice for Contemporary Art 2011/2012

Jennifer Flay
Director of the FIAC
After studying art history, from 1982 to 1991 Jennifer Flay worked with dealers Daniel Templon and Ghislaine Hussenot. She then set up her own contemporary art gallery on Rue Debelleyme in the Marais district of Paris. In 1997, difficulties in the art market led her to move to a new space on Rue Louise-Weiss in the 13th arrondissement, where a number of contemporary art galleries were emerging in a movement initiated by the former Minister of Culture, Jacques Toubon.
An esteemed gallery owner, in November 2003 she became Artistic Director of the Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain (FIAC). Jennifer Flay has breathed new life into the FIAC, working alongside curator Martin Béthenod to give the Fair greater international scope.
