Montserra Aguer
Director of the Center for Dalí Studies
A graduate in Catalan language studies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and with a doctorate in contemporary art, Montse Aguer centres her professional activities on the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation.
She has curated many exhibitions, such as Dalí's Century, The Universe of Salvador Dalí and Salvador Dalí, Invisible Images, with the director of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, and, with Fèlix Fanés, Salvador Dalí. Family Album, Salvador Dalí. Dream of Venus, Dalí. A Genius of the 20th Century, which travelled to Taipei and Shanghai, Dalí and the Power of Imagination at the Nordiska Akvarellmuseet in Sweden, and On the World of Representation and Salvador Dalí in the exhibitions gallery of the Gala Dalí House-Museum in Púbol. More recently, Montse Aguer has curated Dalí and Gaudí, Fairs, Dalí and the Unió, Dalí and Cadaqués, and Salvador Dalí, Singularity and Legend, an anthological exhibition at the Cycladic Art Museum in Athens. She was coordinator for Salvador Dalí: The Early Years which was shown at the Hayward Gallery in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, and the Palau Robert in Barcelona.
Montse Aguer has written numerous articles on Salvador Dalí for journals and catalogues.
As Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies, she gives regular lectures, including Dalí and the Power of Imagination at the Museu Joan Abelló on Dalí's relationship with books. More recently, she took part in the round table discussion On Poetics and Audiences as part of the Spanish Museums. 21st Century summer course organised by the Selgas-Fagalde Foundation in Oviedo.
