Philippe Dagen

Writer, teacher at the University Paris I and art critic

A historian and scholar, Philippe Dagen is the author of numerous works on artists such as Cézanne, Kupka and Bacon, and on art of the twentieth century. Art critic at Le Monde since 1985, he is also a novelist. His first work of fiction, La Guerre, was published in 1996. His most recent work is a major monograph on Picasso, published by Hazan.
A graduate of the École Normale Supérieure with an agrégation in history, Philippe Dagen lectures in contemporary art history at Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne University.
